We're in a recession, ladies, as you know, so I have been hitting up that good CVS for those cheap cosmetic goodies! For the time being the only high-end stuff I use is what I get for free in the mail to review, as I am hoarding every precious dollar I earn for non-material needs.
My recession obsessions right now are L'Oreal Double Extend mascara and Rimmel Volume Boost lip gloss in Attract. Rimmel Volume Boost looks and feels just like MAC Lustreglass, for $10 cheaper! I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do.

L'Oreal Double Extend mascara is one of those double-sided tubes with white primer on one end and mascara on the other. I applied it before applying Andrea's human hair false lashes for more length. Together they give a pretty *bat your eyelashes* look. I kept it simple with Wet & Wild liquid eyeliner. No blush! Just a little powder foundation.

I wore this look to a 3am Steak & Shake breakfast with my best friend, so there was no need for glam.
Video tutorial on something coming soon!
I suppose a LOTD is different than a FOTD in that I don't break down everything I use for LOTD's, mostly because I'm lazy or didn't take enough pictures. This would be both cases as I was just going out to dinner and missed half-price sake happy hour by like, 30 minutes :( Alas.

Wore fun pigtails, a midnight smoky eye (consisting of black, brown, and blue shadows with demi-cut false lashes by Ardell), and pink lips with Lancome Juicy Tubes in Simmer layered over NARS gloss in Female Trouble. I'm honestly wearing like four different cheek shades including highlighter so I won't go there... I will say that Mezhgan makes an awesome shimmer bronzer that will make you glow whether you have light or dark skin. I brush that on all over, then apply blush on top.
I took a tip from Spoiled Pretty/Glamour mag that says you can use hairspray to set your makeup. Hold it at an arm's length from your face then spritz. My face smelled like Citrus Lift Herbal Essences, but it worked!

I picked up a few drugstore goodies. Firstly, my staple Ardell Fashion Lashes (better than MAC imo) in a demi cut for more a natural-looking false lash look (if at all possible). I also nabbed those two CG eyeshadow quads because they were buy one, get one 50% off. After buying two energy drinks for my boyfriend and I, I left the drugstore with a $20 tab. I remember saying on the way out, "How did I just spend $20 at CVS?"
Which got me thinking... It's strange, I'll drop $20 on one high-end eyeshadow alone at Nordstrom, sometimes more for a single lip gloss at Sephora. But why, when I see an $8 price tag on a lip color at the drugstore can I not suffice a reason to buy it? $8 is too much for me for a L'Oreal lip gloss, when I'll spend $25+ on NARS gloss. Same for eyeshadow. I know I'm spending more for quality, but it still amuses me that $8 to me is a drugstore splurge when anywhere else, it would be a total steal.
What about you... Do you have a price point discrepancy when spending at the drugstore versus a department store/boutique?
